I was petsitting by this park so I thought I would try it out. Glad I didn't make a special trip to the park from a long way away! The park has a great playground and a pool (though the water was gone). It is the site of an old kiln. The history of the park was actually pretty cool. The trail was boring at best but it did keep me entertained for awhile which was nice!
Nice, short, lots of trees

Got to see the Taylor Lime Kiln which was interesting and also a wood duck family. The trail itself butted up to peoples' yards and that was just kind of odd.
Very easy, very short

I found this hike when looking for something easy for a relative who has trouble walking. It was ideal for those circumstances -- pretty flat, pretty straight, lots of wildflowers. My only complaint was the multitudes of mosquitoes that attacked us at 9 in the morning. However, despite how nice this hike was, it would have left something to be desired for anybody with *any* hiking experience.
quiet short trail in Old West Austin

Reed Park is closed till next Spring - a million dollar plus restoration is being carried out on the water lines and the trail all the way to the lake...sounds like this will be a place to visit next Spring...
Pleasant hike, out and back in West Austin

Reed Park is a quiet neighborhood park, and the trail runs from the pool area along a creek (dry today) to Scenic Drive near Lake Austin. It crosses the creek in several places, so if it has been raining, you may get wet. Didn't find the trail to the secret garden area, though.
A small park with a lot to offer

Although the hike is short, it is very convenient and includes the opportunity to observe Taylor's Lime Kiln.
