What is a karst?
Karsts are caves leading underground and feed directly into aquafers below. (Photo by Austin Explorer)
Why are they important?
Because they feed directly into groundwater they are extremely sensitive and you should pick up any trash you see to prevent it from being washed into the karst. (Photo by Austin Explorer)
Not just an empty hole
Some karsts also serve as home to bats, which eat a lot of insects. So don't attempt to enter them. (Photo by Austin Explorer)
