Flat trails with only one slight incline on the path from the Observatory. The path from the Amphitheater towards the lake has downhill with a beautiful view of the lake. The day we hiked, the Observatory was closed, as were 3 of the other trails. Lots of solitude!!! There were a few red tailed hawks flying above... and 2 armadillos. Would love to see the other trails (closed for the season).
A friend and I started our hike shortly after the park opened this day... shortly after starting we stopped by the lake to watch some water fowls playing. Trails were easy to follow and the outcropping of rocks/granite made the hike interesting. The trail along the outcroppings are clearly marked either with colored paint dots or with rocks layed out forming a path. I saw a couple of large lizards (they wouldn't stick around for me to take pictures of them though). The whole time we hike, we were the only 2 people on the paths... loved it and would hike here again!!
The trails were easy and short. Lots of trees, but not much scenery to be seen. Hiked with a friend... we were disappointed when we arrived and wanted to hike the caverns, but the only way to hike the caverns is with the guided tour, which costs $12 per person.
Beautiful scenery. Several areas for rock climbing. Many hiking trails, including trails between rocks. Really enjoyed the trail between Little Rock and Enchanted Rock... trail ends and you hike a rugged "trail" through rocky area before climbing to the top of Enchanted Rock. Found many areas for rock climbing (climbing from rock to rock without needing safety lines).
