This is a very enjoyable hike on well maintained trailway that winds through canyons in the River Place housing. There are houses on both canyon rims but they are rarely seen or heard. The solitude was good for the location. The hike is challenging with lots of up and down. There is one elevation change of 530 feet. However, there are stairs all the way. The Fern Canyon leg of the trail is especially scenic. This is one of the best maintained trails in Central Texas. I will definitely do this hike again.
