We camped near Devil's Swimming Hole for several days. The weekend would have been unmanagable due to the crowds we witnessed even late on Sunday, but Monday was a whole different story and we loved it. We covered all of the trails available, some several times. My dog was helpful when some of the trails became questionable, keeping us on track. We saw several deer on the trails, and scores in the park. My difficulty rating encompasses the difficulties in determining trails, occasionally, and he searing sun, even early in the morning. The views are worth it, hands down. Wear a hat. Clearly my favorite place to hike in this area, with or without camping.
Lots of different things to see on this hike. My dog was humbled by his experience seeing an eagle fly from his nest. Loved the butterflies in the sea of yellow wildflowers. We saw not one soul during the entire hike.
Yikes. By noon, this beautiful place was so packed there was very little walking space on the 'beach' to be had. I know they limit cars, but darn, how many people were in these cars?? It really is beautiful, though. Loved floating on our tubes just under the spray of the falls.
For a girl who couldn't even walk to get the mail a year ago, I was ecstatic to reach the top of this peak. The view was magnificent; a celebration of the journey. The drive out to Enchanted Rock was beautiful-the wildflowers were really outdoing themselves. An experience that reminded me of how lucky I am to live in Texas. Next visit I'll be there at sun up. A little more solitude and the sunrise would make this an even more phenomenal experience.
