Nice improvements to the trail!
Buescher State Park - 12/17/2013  [View Log Page]
Rating: 4stars Difficulty: 2stars Solitude: 4point5stars
Distance: 8.25 Miles Duration: 2 hours, 30 minutes

I went out to ride my mountain bike on the trails today (yes, the park allows biking as well as hiking on the trails now.) and to find some geocaches. It was a beautiful Fall day and I really enjoyed the trails. They finally moved the portion of the trail that used to be on the pipeline ROW! It is now much more scenic and interesting. They also added a new route to part of the Pine Gulch loop. Be sure to pick up a copy of the excellent new trail map from headquarters. Granted it was a weekday, but the whole trail was very quiet and I only passed 3 other people!

Hot but nice.
Canyon of the Eagles - Lakeside - 9/3/2012  [View Log Page]
Rating: 3point5stars Difficulty: 1point5stars Solitude: 5stars
Distance: 3.20 Miles Duration: N/A

We stayed in our RV at Canyon of the Eagles over the Labor Day holiday. Thank goodness for the A/C as it was over 100 degrees each day! So hiking was limited to the early morning hours. The park was full, but during our morning hikes we saw no other people on the trails! Lots of solitude! And lots of doves. Campground is nice and quiet as well.

Nice hike on a beautiful day.
Pedernales Falls - Wolf Mountain Trail - 1/31/2009  [View Log Page]
Rating: 3stars Difficulty: 2stars Solitude: 3stars
Distance: 7.30 Miles Duration: 4 hours, 30 minutes

We enjoyed this hike today on a beautiful day. There are some really scenic ravines near the trail that can be seen if you take some of the small side trails. We have hiked this trail before, and have only seen other hikers in the past, but today a ranger in a pickup passed us going out as we were going in, then one passed us on foot  and another passed in another pickup going in as we were going out. Not sure what was going on but this seemed like a lot of ranger traffic and a lot of vehice traffic on the trail. Other than that it was pretty quite exept for several other groups of hikers and backpackers that we passed. There are some nice primitive camp sites in the area.

Great day of hiking in the woods!
Bastrop State Park - Lost Pines Trail - 1/26/2009  [View Log Page]
Rating: 3stars Difficulty: 2stars Solitude: 5stars
Distance: 5.37 Miles Duration: 3 hours, 48 minutes

We set out for a day of hiking and geocaching in the pines, and this trail did not disappoint. It was great listening to the wind blow through the pine needles, enjoying the views, and finding a few caches. We didn't see a single person the whole way!

Still love it out there!
The Canyonlands - 11/1/2008  [View Log Page]
Rating: 4stars Difficulty: 3stars Solitude: 4stars
Distance: 4.00 Miles Duration: 3 hours, 30 minutes

This was the latest of many trips we have made to the Canyonlands. We hiked every single trail out there today, including the new half-mile trail on the west side of the park. All of them are great, and even though this was a beautiful Saturday, we only saw a handfull of other people. The trees are starting to show some pretty fall colors, and is is very quiet and peaceful out there. We really enjoyed it!
